Lunch with Lester Holt
There are work lunches, and then there are the kind of lunches where you’re sitting across from one of the most iconic news anchors in the country, chatting about Rabia Chaudry’s amazing work on innocence cases around the country, including her NYT bestselling book, and landmark case, of Adnan Syed.
Lester Holt is the anchor of NBC Nightly News and Dateline, all with a voice as smooth as butter.
Lester shares a deep interest in wrongful conviction cases making this an incredible opportunity to hear his thoughts.
We met just a short walk from 30 Rockefeller Plaza — because where else do you casually have lunch with a news legend? Between bites of a delicious salad, we talked about everything from Rabia’s work in advocacy to some of the most memorable news stories Lester has covered over the years.
After lunch, we took a stroll in the sunshine and my conversation with Lester took a heartwarming turn when I mentioned how much I’ve always loved his signature sign-off: “Take care of yourself and each other. Good night.”
It’s a simple message, but in a world full of divisive noise, it’s one that sticks with you.
